Virtual Care

Virtual Care allows you to connect with your practitioner using an easy to use, fully protected audio and/or video conference platform. The software we use to provide virtual care is private, secure and HIPAA and PIPEDA compliant.

Virtual therapy increases your access to  high-quality care and therapy services when you cannot visit the clinic because of health and safety circumstances or you simply want to limit your exposure risk.

Even in the absence of an in-office visit, your virtual therapy will keep you safe, while keeping you moving and working toward your functional goals.

Evidence suggests real-time telehealth (videoconferencing) and telephone-based interventions are effective for improving pain and function in individuals with spinal conditions, osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.

What is Virtual Care ?

Virtual care is individualized, one-on-one physical therapy provided through a video conference using a phone, tablet, computer or smart TV. Your practitioner will perform an evaluation of your injury and limitations and develop a treatment plan tailored specifically to you.

With Virtual Care, we are able to see you in your home environment. This can give us a better understanding of your day-to-day life and allow us to evaluate and modify your movements as needed. Like an in-clinic visit, we can still perform a full-body assessment and review functional movements such as reaching overhead, lifting, squatting, kneeling, getting in and out of a chair.

Listening to your story and observing your movements tells us a lot about you. While we are unable to physically assess you 'hands on', we believe that listening and observing our patients is paramount to an effective plan of management.

We will be able to determine if virtual care is right for you and your specific condition(s), based on the nature of your injury and recommended treatment.

What to Expect

All recent evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for the management of conditions such as back and neck pain; headache pain; shoulder, hip, knee and osteoarthritis pain recommend exercise and self-management strategies as an essential first-line therapy.

We can monitor your progress, make modifications to the current care plan, address questions and issues related to your current complaint, address lifestyle-related behaviours (e.g., nutrition, sleep, stress management), and provide coaching and support.

At the beginning of your session, we will review how the session will take place. Once we obtain consent to a virtual consultation, we will proceed with the assessment and/or treatment. In many ways, this will be very similar to an in-office visit.

Sessions typically last 15 to 30 minutes depending on the nature of your complaint. There will be plenty of time for questions about your treatment, privacy concerns and follow-up.

Is There Insurance Coverage?

While many insurance companies are accepting claims for virtual chiropractic care, we  recommend that you confirm with your insurance company before booking your session.

As of April 3, 2020 we can confirm that the following extended health insurance companies are accepting claims for virtual chiropractic services: Manulife, Green Shield, Pacific Blue Cross, Medavie Blue Cross and Sunlife.

We are aware that this as the current situation (COVID-19) evolves, more extended carriers will accept claims for virtual care. Please contact your insurance company.

Is Virtual Care Secure and Private?

All virtual care sessions are provided through a secure, encrypted connection and are HIPAA and PIPEDA compliant.

Sessions are not recorded and only your practioner will be present for your appointment.
